Latest News About The Film:"CLOSE - BUT NO CIGAR" After submitting to fourteen film festivals, the best result was making it to the semi-final round in one festival selection process and being offered a chance to buy a slot in another film festival (yep its hard to believe). Waiting for festivals to make a decision was frustrating, consuming eight months where I sat and watched the calendar. I then decided to start soliciting film distributors and networks on my own. Within four weeks I had a number of interested parties. One major network expressed some interest and requested a viewing of the film! But alas they passed. I picked one distributor that I thought held some promise and had offered a nice deal for worldwide distribution rights. There is a lot required to deliver a film to a distributor and not all of it is paper work, there is also considerable costs involved - with no guarantee of any return on that investment. So, taking my attorney's advice, I have decided to pass up the distribution deal.
"THE NEW DEAL" I am currently working on a short version of the film targeted for the broadcast market. I am really happy with the new version. It is a much better movie! The storyline is complete, most of the "illustration" is done, but there is still a lot of work to do. This will be a "broacast only" version and a DVD release is not planned. The completion date has not been set.
"SPECIAL DELIVERY" I have made the current film available for digital rental! This is the most ecconomical and convient way to see the movie. You can rent it online, pay through PayPal® and watch it in your browser or you can watch it on your iPhone®, iPad®, iTV®, and many other mobile devices. Reviews & Press:"The Glen Rock Fae documentary gives viewers an excellent insight into the heart, soul and hard work that goes into creating the Spoutwood Faerie Festival. It's so much more than folk just dressing up, it's a lifestyle, and a way of spreading joy to all those who visit this magical place. The music that accompanies the visuals and narration is divine and enhances the experience, transporting you into faeryland. One day I shall make the journey from my little Celtic island (UK) to this original fae gathering." "Glen Rock Fae is a feature length documentary about Spoutwood Farm’s annual Fairie Festival, produced to coincide with their 20th anniversary. Filmed, directed and produced by Kevin Spahr, it is a wonderfully uplifting glimpse into the event with interviews with founders Rob and Lucy Wood, and many other organisers, volunteers, performers and attendees. Interspersed with footage from previous years festivals (just getting to see all the impressive costumes is a treat in itself!), are beautiful shots of Spoutwood Farm. It is a truly magical place to hold such an event and the love and reverence for nature is genuinely wonderful to behold. Writing as someone who’s never (yet!) made the trip from the old world to join in the fun at Spoutwood, far from feeling left out, I was struck by the similarities in attitude to our Faerie community here. The joy and love and celebration of nature is universal it seems!"
